Playing with Thought
Playing with Thought was a solo exhibition at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, bringing together a new series of prints alongside People Play, a group of large-scale sculptures installed within the landscape. Spanning both the gallery and sculpture gardens, the exhibition explored the relationship between two- and three-dimensional practice, inviting visitors to move between printed works and sculptural forms.
Drawing on themes of childhood, memory and shared experience, the exhibition encouraged moments of curiosity, reflection and play. The brightly coloured figures echoed the surrounding landscape, creating opportunities for visitors to interact with the work and experience it from multiple perspectives.
Installed within one of the UK's leading sculpture gardens, Playing with Thought marked an important step in the development of Irwin's public practice, with the outdoor People Play sculptures remaining on site beyond the exhibition as part of Tremenheere's sculpture programme.
