Chinwag
Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, London, 2024
Chinwag marked my first major solo exhibition in a London public museum, bringing together a new body of screenprints, etchings, sculpture and preparatory drawings developed over three years.
Inspired by the history of Pitzhanger Manor, once the country home of Sir John Soane and a place of conversation and gathering, the exhibition explored the dynamics of social interaction, personality and belonging. Through a cast of playful, abstract figures, the works reflected on how we communicate, connect and occupy shared spaces, inviting visitors to consider the rituals and hierarchies that continue to shape contemporary social life.
Blurring the boundaries between printmaking, sculpture and drawing, Chinwag introduced two newly commissioned brushed-metal Peeps sculptures alongside large-scale screenprints, layered etchings and sketchbooks, highlighting the relationship between two and three-dimensional making and my ongoing exploration of colour, form and movement. The exhibition was curated by Svetlana Panova and accompanied by an artist talk with writer and critic Thomas Marks.
The exhibition was widely featured across the arts press, with Londonist naming it one of the Top Exhibitions to See in London, alongside coverage from Culturalee, ArtRabbit and other national arts publications.
